Ubænk
bench
Makes your home feel like a spa
The beautiful UBÆNK was designed in 2006 by danish designer Tom Stepp. His intention was that it should be a piece of furniture for wellness in spa and sauna areas. Therefore, if you want a sense of wellness in your home, UBÆNK can e.g. be used in conjunction with your beauty routines and more. Today, however, it is made of wood, which means that you should avoid direct contact with the bath water.
UBÆNK is produced in molded oak veneer in either matt natural lacquer or black lacquered oak from FSC® certified forests (FSC® N002763). Although the bench looks fragile because of the simple and light design, the sustainable veneer is a very strong material. The UBÆNK can actually withstand the weight of an adult. Once it becomes part of your home, you will never want to live a day without again.
Remains beautiful for years to come
UBÆNK is stylish and elegant and fits perfectly into all Nordic homes. It can be used in the entrance hall as seating, in the bedroom or your walk in closet or as an extra chair at the dining table. In addition, UBÆNK can also be easily used as a table by the sofa or next to the bed.
UBÆNK is made of oak veneer with a water-based matt lacquer. This is to help maintain a good indoor climate and at the same time make it possible to avoid unnecessary impact on the environment. With this lacquer, it stays beautiful for several years, without the need of additional care. Should you spill on the bench, please wipe right away to avoid damaging the surface. The bench can be wiped with a dry or damp cloth, with no need of any other treatments.
Once you have had your UBÆNK for a many years and the years has left their marks and scratches, you can sand it and treat it with lacquer again.
A sustainable bench
UBÆNK is made of FSC-certified oak veneer. This certificate states that the bench has been produced, when the certainty that no more wood is felled than the forest itself can reproduce. That animal and plant life is protected and that the people who work in the forests receive a proper salary, are trained and work with safety equipment.
The FSC-certificate is the only global labeling for wood that has support from organizations such as WWF, Greenpeace, Forests of the World and social organizations such as the BAT cartel and companies worldwide.
The designer - Tom Stepp
Tom Stepp is among the most renowned designers in Denmark, and has won several awards for his strong and functional craftsmanship.
He was born in 1950, and has a long list of impressive, practical educations, as both a building technician, building designer and as architect from the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. All of these have shaped his personal expression, best described as modern functionalism.
Tom Stepp’s work is made from knowledge drawn from his versatile background. It gives him unique insights into what functions on a practical level. One can thus also see that furniture design from Tom Stepp is varied design that is “grounded”, but at the same time also exudes an understated beauty, for which Scandinavian design is famous.
