OUR CERTIFICATIONS
At MAKE nordic, we emphasize environmentally certified and health-labeled materials, as it is essential for us to limit our footprint. At the same time, it is important to us that you and your loved ones can use our furniture safely.
When choosing sustainability, you also choose eco-friendly furniture. Then you help to take care of the nature, the environment, your family and yourself. Environmentally friendly furniture can be many things. They can be sustainably manufactured or they can consist sustainable materials. Whether your furniture has one of the environmental certifications, or whether it is made with less use of water and plastic, then of course they must also fit into interior design. So choose your furniture with your heart, with your stomach, with your senses or with your eyes. As long as it’s right for you!

FSC®-CERTIFIED WOOD
At MAKE nordic, wood is the main element in our furniture constructions, and with it comes a responsibility to choose wood from responsible forestry. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) is a global labeling scheme for wood, paper and other cellulose-based materials that aims to protect nature, as well as the people who work in and depend on it.
With FSC, you are assured that no more wood is felled than the forest can reproduce, at the same time the forest workers have access to training, safety equipment and a proper salary. In addition, the FSC is the only global labeling scheme with broad support from green organizations such as WWF, Greenpeace and Forests of the World.

The Nordic Ecolabel® Leather
When you order chairs from MAKE nordic, you can choose to have them upholstered with the Nordic Ecolabel® Dunes leather from Sørensen Læder. The quality is top notch, the surface is beautiful, soft and delicious. This type of leather gets patina and only gets more beautiful with time.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY TEXTILES AND COLD FOAM
The cold foam that is inside our furniture has a leading health label. The same applies for the fabric and textiles we cover our furniture with, they are all Oeko-tex certified.
The labels place stricter requirements to the products of harmful substances than the legislation does – and we would like to make the extra reservations for your health. For example, this means that our furniture foam (cold foam) and textiles are free of brominated flame retardants that are suspected of being severely endocrine disrupting, and for this labeling it also applies that the closer the product gets to the body, the more stringent the requirements for chemicals used.
The requirements to the products also follow the development within medical research, so that the labeling is always in step with the latest knowledge. Ask for the labels on cold foam and textiles when choosing your furniture. We are happy to help you get the cleanest and most sustainable products.
EU ECOLABEL - FURNITURE
The EU Ecolabel is the official European eco-label. The whole is essential in relation to the EU Ecolabel, and the Certification is a holistic perspective on the product’s total environmental impact and therefore deals with all relevant phases in the product’s life cycle from raw materials and production to disposal and recycling. Products that are certified with the EU Ecolabel have a limiting environmental impact. The EU Ecolabel also places high demands on the products ‘contents of chemicals – both for the sake of consumers’ health and for the environment.
In order for a product to be certified with the EU Ecolabel, the product must go through an extensive certification process at Ecolabelling Denmark – with documentation and verification that it meets the stipulated requirements. When you choose a product certified with the EU Ecolabel, you can therefore – no matter which product you choose – be sure that it is among the environmentally best in its category. You protect the environment and drive production and product development in a more sustainable direction.
Sustainability is about cradle to cradle consideration and about the environmental impact of the products. It is essential for MAKE nordic. We strive as far as possible for our products to be labeled with the EU Ecolabel. We work with our suppliers in the field of sustainability and have an ambition that our wooden furniture made of wood from FSC®-certified forrests can be labeled with the EU Ecolabel in the near future.
